Essay On School As Zone Of Peace.

Schools as Zones of Peace is a Save the Children-led project that aims to protect boys and girls in school and prevent learning disruptions due to armed conflict. Save the Children has created "Schools as Peace Zones", which aims to get girls and boys back to school in safe areas, avoiding disruption to education due to war. The UNICEF-funded Schools as Zones of Peace (SZOP) project aims to increase children's access to quality education by bringing peace to schools most affected by civil unrest and political activism.

The project builds on the School as a Zone of Peace model, which enabled children to access education in Nepal during the civil war, and builds on its components by linking it to the Safe Schools Declaration. At the local level, the project aims to provide a secure learning environment in conflict and post-conflict situations, raise awareness among communities, school leaders and children, and build local and national commitments to protect education. The UN System in Government of Nepal calls on the government, political parties and all child protection partners and youth organizations to respect the spirit of the SZOP and ensure that children in Nepal can thrive, grow and be educated in an atmosphere free from violence and terror.

Under this "Schools as Zones of Peace" (SZOP) directive, children, teachers and students are free to work in an environment free of violence and interference to stay safe. If conflict (and instability) in a country can upset a school and cause student disruption, then the school can be considered a zone of peace (PEOP). In order to have any academic success, students and teachers must first create a calm school learning environment.

As an educator, I have always believed that for students whose home life is unstable and lacks peace, we have a greater responsibility to create and maintain a peaceful school learning environment. There must be full and parent involvement and commitment to student-led and student-led peaceful school initiatives. These changes will be led by students who are committed to developing and implementing peace initiatives in our schools. Silvia Diasgranados Ferrans pointed out that the peace education curriculum will only take root if it is offered at the school level and goes beyond a specific topic, implemented by every adult in the building and demonstrated throughout the school day.

Peace education varies by age; older children are naturally able to enter the history of peace and conflict by learning about different countries and cultures. They can engage at higher levels by researching and writing about peace and peace education. Involve children in caring for the environment by respecting materials, pets, plants and other children. For older students, this might mean creating service projects to help people in their school, community, or around the world. Global Citizen leads the project and provides information on peace education.
